Making Money Online -- On the Footsteps of Internet Marketing Experts

At one time, making money online to me means risking your money to people whom you have no way of running after in case something happens. Yet, as more and more things are being done via the internet, I see a clearer picture of the online terrain.

Some of the offline rules no longer apply, but some of them remain valid. Among those that remain valid is the power of duplication, or doing business on the footsteps of internet marketing experts.

In the offline world, duplication happens in franchising. People who have demonstrated the profitability and replicability of a system sell their business systems to franchisees. Network marketing is another business concept that relies heavily on duplication. A "downline" is expected to stick to a system created by the company.

The "upline" is there to guide the downline. Either way, the franchisor or the upline have a financial stake on the success of the franchisee or downlline; such that it is in their best interest for the latter to succeed financially.

Duplication in the internet basically works this way:

(1) The vendor (the one that seeks to duplicate itself) registers with an affiliate marketing company that looks for agents who will sell the vendor's products. The vendor also handles all payments.

(2) The affiliate marketing company gives the agent a "hoplink" that the agent would promote on the web. A hoplink contains information about the vendor and the agent.

(3) Anyone who clicks on the hoplink would be brought to the site of the vendor. Any sale that arise from that would be credited to the agent.

I have found it unimaginable in the beginning for a successful internet marketer to give out all of his or her secrets - copyrighting materials, keywords, HTML codes, images, videos, text, website layouts, online tools, etc. -- to complete strangers across the world, and at very affordable prices at that. Yet this is exactly anyone can see happening in the internet these days.

To help the agent promote the products or services, some vendors actually provide the agent with all the digital materials needed to promote the vendor's website - keywords, website content, etc. This is where the duplication takes place. This is also where you see why successful internet marketers bank on duplication to expand their own bottom lines.

How much does an agent earn from the transactions? I find it mind-shattering that the agent gets the lion's share of the revenues. An agent gets 50%-70%. These figures are unheard of in the franchising and network marketing models.

At the end of the day, the business system provided by the experts may be like footprints that anyone can follow towards success in the online world; but the individual must do the walking.
